Occupational Engagement and Empowerment in Every Day Practice (1.5 PDUs)

Julie Kugel, OTD, MOT, OTR/L, will discuss concepts of scholarship related to community practice, health, and wellness. Health promotion and occupation-based practice are inherent facets of occupational therapy practice and yet there are many underserved populations within our own communities. She will share examples of occupational engagement and the powerful role it plays in empowering clients and communities alike. Working in community settings has taught her about the important presence and inherent value occupational therapy brings when ideas and dreams are put into action. Sometimes scholarship and community engagement may seem out of reach to the everyday practitioner, through this presentation she will highlight how we can take those dreams and turn them into action.
