Day in the Life Series | Redefining Stroke Recovery Through Tech, Treatment, and Advocacy

Presenters: John Paul Bonadonna
John Paul Bonadonna (he/him) is an occupational therapist and Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist with a passion for stroke rehabilitation, rehabilitation robotics, and telehealth. He currently serves as the Lead Occupational Therapist at Imago Rehab - a Harvard-based startup focused on stroke rehabilitation and designing / testing soft rehabilitation robotics. He hopes to build out programming to reach survivors in rural areas and those who cannot otherwise travel to outpatient clinics to receive skilled occupational therapy services. He also continues to work part-time in mental health and inpatient neurorehabilitation; has a history of researching, designing, and testing novel rehabilitation robotics in the Biodesign Lab at Harvard University; currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at the MGB University of Health Professions; and teaches two courses per year at his alma mater. John Paul is also the Co-Chair of the Chapters committee at the Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity, where he oversees ~140 chapters and associated programming. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, and previously held a career researching substance use disorder treatments. He is committed to serving stroke survivors who have been turned away by other organizations and implementing a framework on a greater scale that emphasizes a paradigm shift from current conventional treatment methods.
