This presentation is designed for all OT practitioners to apply across all practice areas.

Presenters Ingrid Leu, OTD, OTR/L, CTIS, and Bianca Callier, OTD, OTR/L, CTIS
How do you gather a medical background and an occupational profile of a new client when the circumstances that brought them to you were traumatic? This presentation will pull concepts from the “Trauma-Informed Educator Certification” training course by the Community Resilience Initiative hosted by OTAC and apply them to the occupational therapy (OT) process, specifically evaluation. Through small group workshops, there will be an opportunity to learn how to apply trauma-informed care concepts and incorporate our OT lens to build emotionally safe therapeutic relationships.

Learning Objectives
Participants will learn how to:

  • maintain a therapeutic relationship.
  • create a consistently safe and supportive emotional environment.
  • establish a therapeutic relationship utilizing concepts from the trauma-informed educator
    certification course.
